Frequently Asked Questions
-
We recommend bringing a water bottle and that you wear comfortable shoes and clothes you can move in. Other than that, just bring yourself (and a willingness to try something new!).
-
Nope and nope! While we firmly believe that everyone is inherently creative, you don’t need to identify as a “creative type” to get a lot out of this workshop. Beginners are enthusiastically encouraged to attend!
-
You’re not alone! Meaningless small talk is not something IRL facilitators are into. We value having a close-knit community and being able to go deep, which is what has motivated me to develop these workshops. People on our team have experienced social anxiety throughout our lives, and we promise to take good care of the introverts among us.

IRL offers tiered pricing in order to make our events as accessible as possible. Discounted entry is available to students, educators, frontline healthcare workers, and anyone experiencing financial hardship, no questions asked. Ticket prices typically start around $10 including fees. If you need a further scholarship or discounted tickets have sold out for a given event, please email irlimprov@gmail.com.
We use Ticketleap to sell tickets because of the platform’s lower fees compared to other ticket vendors.

Our classes and workshops for adults are portable! We partner with UHeights Center to offer improv and storytelling classes and workshops in the U-District. We also host workshops at Seattle Open Arts Place in Capitol Hill, as well as at public libraries. If you know of a community space or organization that would be interested in hosting an IRL program, please reach out to irlimprov@gmail.com.
We also host programs in schools for youth ages K-12.
-
Yes, but it helps us to create better programs for you if you buy tickets in advance! We adapt the activities we plan based on how many people sign up.
-
Absolutely not! Participants in our workshops have ranged from 19-78. Some people just moved to Seattle and come to our events to build a community from the ground up. Others have lived here for decades, raised their kids here, and are challenging themselves to expand their social circles and learn a new creative hobby later in life.
One of the best things about IRL events is that they bring together a wide range of people who probably wouldn’t otherwise be in each other’s orbit.
